HN Communication: Presenting Complex Communication For Vocational Purposes

Aim:
To provide competence in a range of advanced communication skills, including business communication methods, reports, meetings and oral presentations.

Length of Study:
18 weeks with tutor support.

Entry Requirements:
It would be helpful for candidates to possess an NC Communication 4, but this may not be necessary for adult returners or people with some specific employment aims, or some business experience.

Contents:
Developing Meeting Strategies, The Range of Meetings and Their Applications, Chairing and Participating in Meetings, Documentation for Meetings (Agenda & Minutes), Interactive Meeting Skills, Oral Presentation Purposes and Contexts, Body Languages, Oral Presentation Skills, Report Conceptualising, Report Structures, Research, Drafting, Redrafting, Report Presentation.

Study Method:
Home-based self study with tutor support, plus some College attendance in group workshops.

Assessment:
There are 3 main assessments, two spoken (but including preparation and submission of finished documentation), and 1 written. The spoken assessments require some group interaction.

Cost: £110 + £13 SQA Fees.
