Intensive English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Elementary

Aim of Course:

This course will build on basic skills in English language so that by the end of the course you will be able to communicate confidently in everyday situations.  The course will develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills with study of grammar and pronunciation.  The emphasis is on real-life communication.

Course Content:
You will practise skills for social situations (e.g. meeting new people, writing informal letters), work-related situations (e.g. attending interviews, writing business letters) and study situations (e.g. filling in application forms, finding information on the internet).  In addition to English language, you will have classes in basic IT skills, study skills and Citizenship.

On successful completion of this course, you will gain an SQA ESOL Access 3 qualification as well as Reid Kerr College qualifications.

Duration:
The full-time ESOL courses take place five days a week, either morning or afternoon.   Courses run from August 2010 until June 2011.

Educational Progression:
earners can progress to Intensive ESOL Intermediate 1 level.

Career Progression:
This ESOL course will help you in your daily life in Scotland.  It will improve your confidence in social and job-related situations.

Qualifications Required:
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.  All applicants will be invited for an interview and you will be assessed so that we can advise you on the most suitable level for your needs.
