Professional Development Award (PDA) Office Administation
The course aims to enhance communication and IT skills as well as providing a range of organisational and administrative skills to support the administrator's role in today's office. It is ideal for anyone working in or aiming to work in an administrative environment. The course will include: Communication including chairing meetings, meetings terms and minute taking, summarising and report writing; Developing personal effectiveness including analysis of strengths/weaknesses, time management, action planning and stress management; Organisational structures/charts, delegation, review and design of procedures, and employment legislation inclusive of employment rights and discrimination. Candidates will also gain knowledge of "smart" searching on the internet, e-mailing, use of electronic diary and file management.

Aim:
The aim of the PDA is to:
- Enhance personal effectiveness
- Develop knowledge of organisational structures, procedures, communication methods, employment legislation and minute taking.
- Develop competence in use of the internet, electronic diary and file management
It also provides 4 credits towards the required 12 credits for the HNC Administration & Information Technology
Length of Study:
The course consists of 4 HN units each of which should last 18 weeks with tutor support. The course can be completed within a year.
Entry Requirements:
Candidates should possess word processing skills and a good standard of general education or work experience.

SWOT analysis, Action Plans, Time Management, Stress Management, Organisational Structures/charts, Delegation, Designing Procedures, Employment Law, Report Writing, Summarising, Minute Taking, Searching on the Internet, Emailing, Use of Electronic Diary, File Management.

Assessment:
Some assessments are open book and may be completed at home whilst others must be undertaken under controlled, supervised conditions either in college of elsewhere with appropriate supervision.
