Skilled students from Reid Kerr College's Institute of Construction & Engineering (ICE) were celebrating their achievements recently at their annual award ceremony. Family, friends, employers, official guests and College staff gathered to honour the best Construction and Engineering students at Reid Kerr, with a presentation of prizes and Certificates of Achievement for outstanding performance in their field.
Engineer Tech Talks Inspire
One of the UK's most experienced and respected electrical engineers came to Scotland recently to deliver a series of technical talks for contractors working within the electrical industry. Reid Kerr College in Paisley were delighted when Tony Cable, Senior Marketing & Events Engineer with NICEIC agreed to extend his visit and take part in their Annual Lecture for the Institute of Construction and Engineering. Guest speaker on the night, Tony spoke to a packed audience made up of local contractors, installers and suppliers from the Renfrewshire area.
Photography student makes the final cut in UK contest
A Reid Kerr College Photography student has seen his work exhibited in London after being highly commended in the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) first Red for Heart Digital Photography Competition.
Student Honoured by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland
The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) honours individuals working and training within the area of environmental health at their Annual Awards ceremony. For the 2nd consecutive year, a student from Reid Kerr College picked up a top award at their Highfield Awards held in Edinburgh.
A New Wave of Technology
A group of young students from Reid Kerr College made the trip to Islay recently as part of a combined study into the island's Renewable and Sustainable Energy sources. The students, who are studying Pre-apprenticeship Construction with Renewable Energy at Reid Kerr, joined up with Secondary 5 pupils from Islay High School and their teacher Freddie Bell, who leads the Rural Skills Courses in the Skills for Work programme at the school.
Training Courses for The Licensed Trade
Starting from February 2010, Reid Kerr College in Paisley will be offering accredited courses for individuals interested in working in the Licensed trade.
Reid Kerr Schools Student wins STV's Cooking Compeition
Gryffe High Pupil and Reid Kerr College Cookery student Craig Hawthorn was recently crowned winner of STV's cooking competition Chef's Apprentice. Selected from thousands of entries, Craig went head to head with another three finalists before he claimed the title and exclusive prize of working with one of Scotland's top Executive Chefs - Jeff Bland of The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.
