Tablet Technology Takes Over
Tablet technology is taking over a business course at Reid Kerr College and you could be the proud owner and user of the latest touch screen computer. Kirsty Friel, 18 from Paisley is set to become one of the first students to begin the Retail training programme next month at Reid Kerr, which allocates a tablet PC to all students at the start of their training.
Sharon Gardiner, Head of Business at Reid Kerr said, “As part of the College’s launch of The New College Learning Programme, students on our Retail course will work with a tablet PC during their training. It is essential this programme of study uses this kind of resource in order for the students to be able to cope with the technology used in the work place. On successful completion of the course and providing students have achieved good attendance, timekeeping, behaviour and achieved their qualification they can expect to take home the tablet PC when they finish.”
Kirsty Freil added, “As a young adult I use technology as part of my every day life and having this resource at College will be a real advantage. This new course at Reid Kerr will be the best way for me to gain employability skills as well as all of the key Retail training required to work in such a successful sector. The opportunity to own a tablet PC at the end of the course will certainly drive me to do well in this training and encourage me to work hard.”
The New College Learning Programme, supported by Skills Development Scotland, offers young people aged 16-24 years a choice of short courses combined with work placements in a range of sectors. Courses have been designed to provide qualifications and employability skills as well as giving employers direct access to new talent.
The Retail course begins on Monday 5th November and there are still places available if you apply NOW.
