Sound of the Underground - Friday 14th September
Reid Kerr College Music Students are once again taking part in a series of events that see them support established artists from labels at the forefront of Scotland’s Music Scene. Now in it’s third year, each Paisley Underground night this year is curated by a different record label. The events are in partnership with Paisley Arts Centre and the record labels featured.
In addition to the live events, in October, Paisley underground will also feature free Music Industry led panel events on Music Management and Video/Social Media.
For the first event Edinburgh’s Gerry Loves Records present Rick Redbeard and Wounded Knee at Paisley Arts Centre. Rick Redbeard is the solo project of Rick Anthony, singer from acclaimed Glasgow sextet, The Phantom Band. Support at this one comes from Reid Kerr College HND Music Students, Deerhound.
Chris McCulloch, Music Lecturer said, “This Friday at the Paisley Arts Centre, Paisley Underground features current HND Music Students. The Paisley Underground events have put Paisley back on the musical map for cutting-edge, contemporary, independent music. Last year, Paisley Underground played host to the winner and many of the nominees for the Scottish Album of the Year Award. It is a chance for our students to show that they can hold their own in a professional environment”.
Doors are at 7pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased by calling 0141 887 1010 or logging onto www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/onlinebooking.
